The fastest method of DNA sequencing as of Jul, 2008 is a tech called HelioScope(tm) that claims to be able to sequence 1.2 Billion bp in 1 hour, using advanced fluorescent microscopy and a suitable marker system.

The sequencer costs a scratch over 1 million dollars US, and is probably going to redefine genomics as we know it.

What is meant by pyrosequencing?

It is common knowledge that pyrosequencing is a method of DNA sequencing (determining the order of nucleotides in DNA) based on the "sequencing by synthesis" principle.

What is best method for DNA sequencing?

polmerase chain reaction

Dideoxyribonucleotide chain-termination is a method of?

Dideoxyribonucleotide chain-termination is a method used in DNA sequencing to determine the sequence of nucleotides in a DNA molecule. It involves terminating DNA synthesis at specific bases by incorporating dideoxyribonucleotides (ddNTPs) into the growing DNA strand, which lack the 3' hydroxyl group needed for further elongation. This results in a series of fragments of varying lengths that can be separated by size to reveal the DNA sequence.

Cycle sequencing is properly defined how according to online sources?

Cycle sequencing is properly defined as a method for DNA sequencing which is based on dye-termination. The method employes repeated cycles melting, annealing, and synthesis.

What are types of sequencing?

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF DNA SEQUENCING......1) MAXAM-GILBERT METHOD (OR) CHEMICAL METHOD...2) SANGER DI-DEOXY METHOD...3) Shotgun sequencing4) Primer walking

A nick in DNA can be detected by which method?

A nick in DNA can be detected using techniques such as gel electrophoresis or DNA sequencing. Gel electrophoresis separates DNA fragments based on size, allowing researchers to visualize any breaks or nicks in the DNA molecule. DNA sequencing can also reveal the exact location and nature of the nick in the DNA sequence.

What does the term shotgun sequencing refer to in genetics?

Shotgun sequencing refers to a laboratory method for determining the DNA sequence of an organism's genome. This technique breaks the genome into small DNA fragments that are sequenced separately.

How does the process of DNA sequencing work and what role does it play in understanding genetic information?

DNA sequencing is a method used to determine the order of nucleotides in a DNA molecule. This process involves breaking down the DNA into smaller fragments, sequencing these fragments, and then assembling them to reveal the complete genetic code. DNA sequencing helps scientists understand genetic information by identifying specific genes, mutations, and variations that can impact traits, diseases, and evolutionary relationships.

How many methods are used in DNA sequencing?

Since the birth of DNA sequencing in the 70's several methods have been developed which have become increasingly more efficient. There are probably 10-15 mainstream ways of sequencing, although dye-terminator sequencing is the one primarily used
