Jeanette MacDonald introduced "Beyond the Blue Horizon," which was composed specifically for her, in Paramount's "Monte Carlo" (1930). She also sang it in "Follow the Boys" (1944) in which she played herself entertaining the troops during WWII.
Jeanette also made three commercial recordings of the song, all for RCA Victor, first as a single (1930), then in the album "Jeanette MacDonald Favorites" (1950), and finally in her last commercial recording, the album "Favorites in Stereo" (with Nelson Eddy, 1958).
