# Find the length of a rectangular lot with a perimeter of 82m if the length is 5 m more than the width?

OK so we have two formulas:

Length = width + 5 (since legth is 5 more than width)

length + width + length + width = perimeter= 82 (form. for perm.)

so we can replace every instance of "length" with "width + 5" since they are the same.

width + 5 + width + width + 5 + width = 82

4xwidth + 10 = 82

4X width = 72

width = 23

so now go back and replace "width" with 23.

length = 23 + 5

length = 28

There you go.

## Related Questions width*height*length=perimeter of a rectangular prism! :) Perimeter = 2 x (length+width). You add the length to the width and multiply the sum by two. The perimeter of a standard- sized rectangular rug is 94 ft. the length is 3 ft more than the width. Find the length and the width. the length of a rectangular garden is 2 feet longer than 3 times it's width .if the perimeter of the garden is 100 feet find the width and length of the garden It isn't clear how you would define the "perimeter" for a 3D figure. The base is the product of length x width. Length + length + width + width = perimeter. Length + width x 2 = perimeter perimeter = 2 x (length + width) ⇒ length + width = perimeter ÷ 2 ⇒ length = (perimeter ÷ 2) - width So to find the length of the given rectangle, subtract the width from half the perimeter is how to do it. IF you meant "What is the length..." then: length = perimeter ÷ 2 - width = 40 ÷ 2 - 2 in = 20 - 2 in = 18 in Perimeter = 2 * width + 2 * length, so rearranging --> width = (Perimeter / 2) - length the perimeter of a rectangular rug is 40 ft. the length is 2 ft longer than the width. find the dimensions The perimeter is the total distance around - width + width+ length + length. Perimeter = Width x 2 + length x 2. To find width, you minus the length from perimeter because opposite of ADD is SUBTRACT. Length + width = half of perimeter, so you need more information... In the simplified format:Perimeter of a rectangle = (Length) + (Width) + (Length) + (Width)In the advanced format:Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 x (Length + Width) If the length of a rectangle is twice its width and it has a perimeter of 48, then the rectangle is 16 in length and 8 in width. Use the following formulae: Area = length x width Perimeter = 2 x length plus 2 x width, or length + length + width + width The length of a rectangle is twice its width. If the perimeter of the rectangle is , find its area. Area = Length*Width so Width = Area/Length. Therefore the Width can be calculated. Then, perimeter = 2*(Length + Width) and everything on the right hand side of the equation is known so the perimeter can be calculated.
