I was in the first grade and he was was front-page news. Many will mistake John Glenn as the first into space, with his complete orbit of the earth on Feb 20 1962. Looking back on the early development of space propulsion rockets, I realize how brave these guys were. There were so many Titan rocket failures prior to the Mercury-Redstone program.
