First, by the time the first atomic bomb was dropped over Hiroshima, Japan caused was lost and the war in that sense was also lost. The only thing left for Japan was the mainland which didn't count for too much either.
Both battles proved Japan could be beaten. Midway was Japan's first loss of the war and they lost all 4 of their carriers, hindering them greatly. America then started claiming territory back I.e. Guadalcanal later that year. Coral sea saw the Japan's lose more ships but also help the Australians as until that point the threat of invasion loomed over. Japan still made small gains but they were mainly retreating then
