What is a wythe?

A wythe is a unit of thickness in masonry construction defined by the quantity of masonry units 4 inches or greater.

Why are most large telescope reflecting telescopes?

It is cheaper and easier to create mirrors rather than lenses. Large lenses become difficult to support the larger they become. Additionally, mirrored telescopes fold light waves so that a telescope can be shorter, the same size telescopes with lenses are greater in length.

What's the difference between net sand vs gross sand thickness?

Gross sand is the thickness of the sand top to bottom.Net sand is the number of meters in this sand which has porosity greater than a set cutoff (~7%).Net pay is the number of meters of net sand that has movable oil in it.

Why some star that are invisible to the unaided can be seen with a telescope?

Because the main function of a telescope is to make things brighter. It does thatby collecting the light from an object over a much greater area than the lens ofyour eye does.-- The lens of your eye is maybe 1/2 inch in diameter.-- The lens of the largest refracting telescope is 40 inches in diameter, so it can collect6,400 times as much light from a star as your eye can.-- The mirror of the largest reflecting telescope is 400 inches in diameter, so it can collect640,000 times as much light from a star as your eye can.

How does the amount of gravity on a planet affect the thickness of the atmosphere?

It is not a linear relation but, the larger the planet, the greater the gravity, the more it is able to attract and keep.

Why does the HST get better pictures than a telescope earth?

The Hubble Space Telescope doesn't get affected by the Earth's Atmosphere. It also has the advantage of being in space so the quality and variety of images are a lot greater then any optical telescopes on Earth.
