Air ride compressor, air suspension compressor, and air pump are the names used for the same device. They are used to pump up the air suspension.
Air suspension needs compressed air for the control of Air Springs (Air Spring is a cylinder like thing which goes up and down when air is pumped in and out of it). For pumping in and out the air, air compressor needs to be switched ON/OFF. Compressor relay connects and disconnects the compressor motor from the power supply ( battery).
There are many components to an air suspension system and it can be very costly trying to find the problem. When I bought my first car it was a 1990 Cadillac Deville. The thing kept sagging in the rear, over and over. After buying replacement air parts that seamed to keep failing, I bought a conversion kit from Strutmasters. I saved money and time. With all the air parts that could be causing your compressor to not be working, I would say call Strutmasters.
I have a 2002 deVille and all I hear is a little road noise (tires). The engine growls only when "pushed". It's a beautiful thing
small thing like this can be found in a vehicle spacific repair manual at advance auto parts
First thing to do is check that the compressor clutch is engaging, when it is not working properly. If the outer pully is turning, as it does whenever the engine is running, and the inner part of the clutch is not turning, that could be your problem bad clutch or electrical connection . The inner and outer parts of the clutch need to be turning for the compressor to function. Have someone turn the AC on and off while you watch the clutch.
i got a 1993 Cadillac Coupe Deville and my turn signals was doing the same thing and I got new bulbs and still didn't work. I had to get a fuse to make them work
my 2000 Cadillac Deville did the same thing. all i did was to turn switch off turn car off counted to 60 turn car back .on light has not come back on
well you will have to take all the bolts off and if theres any thing in the way you will have to move to take oil pan off
HAHAHA! I felt like a fool after I figured it out ...turn the car on and put it in gear ..and it automatically releases...I was freaking out trying to release that thing..
Same exact thing happened to my '96 cadillac deville just last week. The belt actually shredded. If you look at the location of the belt (right at the lower right corner of the engine) you may decide you may not want to mess with it yourself. I didn't. I took it in to Firestone and they fixed it parts/labor for $60
Well... mines doing the same thing. 88 sedan deville, 4.5 ltr v8. It turns over but I watch and nothing is coming through the injectors... no fuel. It happens off and on, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I think it might be the fuel filter but i can't find that thing.
The thing is you can't get out of suspension on Fantage early sorry...
