When consumers buy goods and services, they expect them to be as good as the seller claims they are. They look for utility when they purchase the goods.
Consumers want a very wide variety of goods and services. We want food and clothing and housing and education and medical care and entertainment and transportation, books and toys and computers and phones and TVs, guns, pets, alcoholic beverages and cigarettes, decorative objects, jewelry, etc. We want haircuts, elaborately painted fingernails, and a thousand other things. I could never list all of them.
They study the consumers who buy those goods and services.
The term used for people who want to buy a product is "consumers." Consumers are individuals or groups that purchase goods or services for personal use. In marketing and economics, they are often referred to as the target audience or market segment that businesses aim to reach.
