When have you ever known anything to continue at the same rate?

The ozone hole was smaller this year than in 2006. So maybe we have a grip on enough bad things to allow the ozone layer to get thicker farther from the equator.

Meaning of ozone layer depletion?

The stratospheric ozone layer is the layer that protects the earth from UV radiation which is harmful to all life forms. Over the years pollution and other things have cause destruction to the ozone layer and began to break it down and deplete it's ability to protect the planet. Eventually, if this continues, the ozone layer will disappear and UV rays will destroy the earth.

What effect of ozone layer depletion due to air pollution?

Politicians will survive, much as the cockroach has survived for hundreds of millions of years. Politicians rarely mouth anything about ozone layer depletion, because their constituents with money speak much louder.

Which atom of the CFC molecule causes ozone depletion?

The chlorine molecule destroys the ozone. CFCs were released at ground level during the second half of the twentieth century. Ten years later global winds had spread them around the world and up to the lower stratosphere where the ozone layer is. A combination of forces splits the chlorine from the CFC and it destroys an ozone molecule. The chlorine survives and goes on to find another victim. These CFCs remain in the atmosphere fro 50 to 75 years, so scientists are hoping that by 2060 the ozone layer will have repaired itself.

What are the main causes for ozone depletion?

the depletion of the ozone layer is mainly caused by gasses called chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) CFC are used in some refrigerator's, aerosol's conditioner's, styrofoam container's and fire extinguisher's.

Whychlorofluorocarbons are considered to be among the worst pollutants?

they stay up there for around 100 years before decaying, and they deplete the ozone layer which is important for life on earth (ozone depletion = global warming)

Slogans for ozone layer depletion and its effects?

There have been hundreds of ozone layer slogans in the past several years. There are many groups who are concerned about damage to the ozone layer and their campaigns and strikes have brought the problem to the attention of many other people.

How many years will it take for the ozone layer to be completely depleted?

It will take much time. But if we stop the CFC's, we could stop its depletion.

How can you prevent depletion of the ozone layer?

The ozone layer is no longer being damaged. CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) used in aerosols and fridges during the 20th century damaged the ozone layer and these chemicals will stay in the atmosphere for another 50 years. The 1987 Montreal Agreement meant that all countries in the world agreed to stop using these chemicals. The ozone layer should have repaired itself by 2060.

What can be done about ozone depletion also Montreal protorol?

Montreal Protocol was an international treaty signed by the united nation to reduce or stop the manufacture of Ozone depleting substances so that the depletion of ozone layer could be stopped or controlled. And moreover the Montreal Protocol has been successful in attaining its targets. In Countries like India the goals have been achieved around 2 years before the due dates. Montreal protocol has been a huge success in the field of ozone protection and has worked to tie the ozone blanket which was once Torn by humans itself.

Why are scientists worried about the ozone layer?

The only massive effects of Ozone Depletion will be shown in 50-150 years. For other opinions, check out the alternate questions below.

How did humans change their actions to reduce ozone depletion?

* The scientists located and identified compounds in the "ozone holes", and showed that they did serve to destroy ozone. * The manufacturer's started testing various compounds before offering them for sale. * The more prosperous countries switched from compounds that were found to destroy ozone, to compounds that did not in laboratory testing.

Describe the ozone layer after 5 years?

The ozone layer after 5 years is dependent on us. It depends how we use CFC's.
