When a prisoner has neared the completion of a sentence parole is often allowed in order to allow the prisoner to become familiar with the outside world. There are provisions in place and conditions have to be met while on parole. One must be approved for parole before it is honored.

Is there a limit on prisoners attempts at parole?

I think the limit is 20. If the prisoner doesn't make parole by then the only avenue would be a full pardon by the governor.

What does parole violation mean?

It means one violated the rules on one's parole. In the Civil War, prisoners were often paroled back to the other side. They gave their word that they would obey the rules. They were forbidden to fight for their units or side until they had been exchanged for a prisoner from the other side. It prevented the enemy from having to house and feed the prisoner.

Non parole period and supsended sentence?

a non parole period is when a person is sentenced and a time is placed on their sentence in which they will not be allowed out of jail until that time is up. For example, if you were sentenced to a total of 8 years in prison with a non-parole period of 6 years, you would have to spend 6 years in prison before having the possiblility to be released early. Suspended sentence is when a trial has finished, the sentence can be suspended to a later date for various reasons.

When is Mark Mangelsdorf eligible for parole?

No. Even though the DA who prosecuted him supported his request for parole. This was part of the plea agreement when he pled guilty - that, as long as he was a model prisoner, the DA would support him at parole time. But he had only served five of this 10-20 year term in May of 2011, and his request was denied. He won't be up for parole again until he has served another five years, which will be a total of 10. And that will be in 2016. He will be 56 years old.

When would someone encounter a parole officer?

What often happened to prisoners of war during the US Civil War?

Aside from being held in prisoner of war camps, in many instances there were prisoner exchanges conducted by each side. In other situations, captured soldiers were given "parole" as the easiest method to handle this wartime situation. A parole situation normally developed when a victorious army on the move had little time to process and ship prisoners away. The parole system had a unique and effective operation. Captured soldiers would give their names and rank and set free with the sworn promise they would not re-enter the ranks of combatants. This was an "honor" system that actually worked.

Will a Class C Misdemeanor effect your parole?

Parole rules and regulations are set by the various states or countries and are normally done by the Parole Board. In most cases I would say, yes, any criminal activity you committed while on parole would have an effect on your terms of parole and could have you returned to jail.
