There is a complete walk through with pictures on how to change the front bearings on a 2003 Ford Explorer on my site: http://conceptxchange.wordpress.com/2011/06/23/changing-the-front-hub-assembly-on-a-2003-ford-explorer/
You have to pull that whole assembly apart to get to the bearings. The wheel comes off, then the brake rotor, then you have the hub assembly. The bearings are inside of that.
They need to be pressed in. You will have to remove the hub assembly and have a shop press the bearings into the hub.
It is lubricated during assembly.
The ABS Sensor is located inside of the hub, which is replacable only by replacing the entire hub assembly as a unit.

Remove the hub cap if equipped. Remove the snap ring holding the lock out hub (regular pliers will work). Pull old lock out hub off. It is sometimes necessary to carefully tap around the hub while pulling it. Insert replacement hub. Replace snap ring and hub cap.
Install the hub assembly to the steering knuckle and secure with 3 retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 110-145 ft. lbs. (149-201 Nm).
