Fred's rule is a formula for finding pediatric medication dosages. It is as follows:

Child's dosage = age in months divided by 150 multiplied by the adult dosage. For example: a 1 year old child weighs 16 lb. The normal adult dosage is 800mg. What is the child's dosage?

x=12mos/150 * 800mg., x=.08 * 800 = 64mg.
