For a 26 HP Briggs & Stratton engine, it is recommended to use high-quality, detergent oil with a viscosity rating of SAE 30 for warmer temperatures or SAE 10W-30 for a wider temperature range. Always check the owner's manual for specific oil recommendations and any potential oil specifications. Make sure to use oil that meets API service classification requirements, typically SF, SG, or higher. Regular oil changes will help maintain engine performance and longevity.
