The saying "eye for an eye" literally means "do unto others as they have done unto you". So, if they make you lose and eye, you make them lose an eye. Start losing eyes and you "see" blindness.

Gandhi meant that seeking revenge or retaliation only leads to a cycle of violence and suffering for both parties involved. By responding with violence, one can lose sight of finding peaceful solutions and perpetuate a cycle of harm and retaliation. Gandhi advocated for nonviolent resistance as a more effective way to address conflicts.

What did Gandhi believe about the caste system?

i know that each and every source will tell u that Gandhi was against the caste system, but in fact he wanted the system. Gandhi was a Vaishya, he wanted to create an image to the Indian people that he was against, by calling them harijans. he had started a starvation proces, in which he said that if Shudars (the lowest caste) were allowed to have rights, he would starve to death. that proves that he was never in favour of getting rid of casteism. if Gandhi said that Shudars were children og god, then he is basically saying that he is not a child of god. Gandhi was a Hindu, and hindus apparently believe in equal treatment, by introducing the caste system they have showed that they infact don't believe in the caste system. so , i ask if u are a shudar and u call yourself Hindu , think to yourself, do u want to be part of a religion that does not treat u well, and thinks of u as untouchable
