Why is an ordinary gas or electricity oven called a convection oven?

because it just is

Do gas convection oven bake as well as electric convection ovens?

The difference is the way the heat is produced. In an electric oven electricity runs through the heating element to produce heat. In a gas oven there is a gas jet that is actually burning, lit by the pilot light and that is how the heat is produced. The gas oven is superior for cooking, but required you to have gas lines in your house and comes with the added risk of flamable gas. <><><> The easy answer is that a gas oven uses gas to heat and an electric oven uses electricity <><><> Using gas, you have the required heat in seconds, not minutes if using an electrical oven. Its just easier to change the temperature level on a gas oven, and faster. People who are used to cooking with gas have time issues with electric ovens. <><><> An electric convection uses electric bake and broil elements and one or more fans in the back of the oven to circulate heat, this is called either fan assist baking or "convection" HOWEVER,,, in order to be a "true convection", "europian convection", or "true europian convection", it MUST HAVE A THIRD ELEMENT!!! The third element is located behind the fan/fans in the back of the oven. If there's not a third element on an electric range, it is not a true convection oven. With gas, typically, it will just be a fan assist bake using gas heat. However, if it is a true convection, europian convection, or true europian convection, it will have an electric-yes electric- element behind the fan/fans that is run off of the 120 outlet just like the electronic ignighters and digital controls.

How can you use the word 'convection' in a sentence?

Who uses gas stoves now? We have convection microwaves!

Can you buy a gas range with a convection oven?

There are some gas ranges with convection overs but they'll cost a bit more than a traditional range.

What is the difference between convention cooking and convection cooking?

A convection oven uses heat, like a regular oven, but sets up a convection current to move heat into the food faster. Microwave ovens use microwave radiation that causes polar molecules inside the food to move. Water being the most common highly polarized molecule in food, microwaves essentially steam food from the inside out.

Which are cost effective regular gas oven or convection oven?

A convection oven has a fan installed - to circulate the hot air that builds up. The use of the fan means the oven doesn't create 'cold spots' and thus the food cooks evenly. This speeds up cooking time - making the oven more cost-effective. A 'regular' oven has no fan, and thus has uneven temperatures throughout the cooking compartment.

How much does an average oven weigh?

GE 24-inch Gas Wall Oven - 127lbsGE 27-inch Single Convection Wall Oven - 128lbsGE 30-inch Single/Double Convection Wall Oven - 188lbsGE 30-inch Double Convection Wall Oven - 249 lbsI have also heard of double ovens weighing in at up to 300lbs.Then there are commercial ovens which are obviously huge.

Does a gas oven need to be directly vented even if there is an over range hood?

No. The oven has a vent already. It is probably under one of the back burners.

Why is there a strong gas smell when I preheat my maytag oven?

I think you may have a gas leak . I would not use the oven until you have someone check it out. You might have a very dangerous situation.

What causes a gas odor when baking in a gas oven?

You might want to check out the pilot (usually located in the broiler), otherwise you have a leak.

Is normal when you preheat your gas stove to smell the gas?

It isn't normal that the gas is smelled, when you open the oven button and press the ignition switch at the same time. Everything must be checked to assure that no leakage is occuring. But,when you open the oven button and don't press the ignition button rapidly in order to ignite the gas in the oven, there is a brief moment in which some gas is released until the ignition occurs. On this sense, it is normal to smell some gas. However, a check out is recommended every three months.
