The Americans lost half their force. The Loyalists lost about a third. When the battle was over the Rebels had about 450 troops left, and the Loyalists had about 300. Even though the rebels had more troops their Commander was severely wounded and they withdrew. I suppose if the criteria for judging a win/loss scenario is who was left in control of the field then the Loyalists won. I suspect that neither side was capable of arguing any more.

The turning point in the Revolutionary War that helped the Americans win, was a victory in three battles in New York and Vermont. Oriskany and Saratoga in New York and the battle at Bennington, Vermont gave the Colonists the upper hand. This was probably due to the fact that one British General decided to go out on his own and capture Philadelphia and did not participate in any of the battles mentioned.
