Howdy,

Perhaps your referring to "Cultivars" who genetically engineer plants to hopefully get the best attributes of two or more host plants. The science is trial and error with a bit of luck sometimes.

As for resistant to insects?...This is a controversial subject because the bacteria used to keep the insects from attacking the plants could potentially hurt beneficial insects.
