"As for Ishmael, I will bless him also, just as you have asked. I will cause him to multiply and become a great nation. Twelve PRINCES will be among his descendants. But My covenant is with Isaac..." (Gen.17:20-21 NLT New Living Translation).

"Princes" (nasiy') pronounced (naw-see'): "...properly, an exalted one, i.e. a king or sheik; also a rising mist: KJV--captain, chief, cloud, governor, prince, ruler, vapour." (Strong's Definitions)

The Bible uses the word "prince" to represent the "leaders" of the nations, peoples... and even the leaders of the angels:

"And at that time [the time of the end] shall Michaelstand up, the GREAT PRINCE which standeth for the children of thy people..." (Dan.12:1 NLT).

"So Jesus cast out the demon, and instantly the man could talk. The crowds marveled... But the Pharisees said, 'He can cast out demons because He is empowered by the PRINCE of demons.'" (Matt.9:1 NLT)

Throughout the Bible it mentions "princes" in reference to any and all of the many leaders of Israel and other nations and empires.

"...This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the PRINCE of the devils." (Matt.12:24 KJV)

(same verse; Literal Bible LIT): "...does throw out the demons except by - Beelzebul, RULER of the demons!"

"Beelzebul" ('Beelzeboul'): "of Aramaic origin [by parody on HSN1176]; dung-god; Beelzebul, a name of Satan..." (Strong's Definitions)

Although there are too many to list here in the Bible... "princes," in the eyes of God, are any leaders, kings, magistrates, priests, premieres, presidents, prime minister, etc. who are responsible to God for their rulership over people, nations or angels. And that includes Jesus Christ:

"...These will be His Royal titles: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, PRINCE of Peace." (Isa.9:6 NLT)

"The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead after you killed Him by crucifying Him. Then God put Him in the place of Honor at His Right Hand as PRINCE [King; "...'You say that I AM a King, and you are right,' Jesus said. 'I WAS BORN FOR THAT PURPOSE..." - John 18:37 NLT] and SAVIOR. He did this to give the people of Israel an opportunity to turn from their sins and turn to God so their sins would be forgiven." (Acts 5:30-31 NLT)

How many sons did Ishmael have and where can you find it in the Holy Bible?

The bible does not tell us how many sons he had, only that he became the father of the Ishmaelites, a wandering race of people. According to the Bible, Ishmael had 12 sons who became twelve tribal chiefs. 13And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam, 14And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa, 15Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah: 16These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.
