Actually Edward the Confesser wanted William and Harold to be king a big mistake
Harold godwinson, William of Normandy and harald hardraada
Harold Godwinson earl of wessex, Duke William 2 of Normandy and Harold Haardrader king of some where:)
Harold Godwinson, William of Normandy and Harold Hardrada all three of these people made it lead to the Battle of Hastings.
"Throne." 1) Harold II King of England. 2) Harald III of Norway, also called Harald Hardrada. Harold of England defeated Harald of Norway in September of 1066 only to be defeated by William of Normandy ("the Conqueror") at the Battle of Hastings on October 14th, 1066. 3) William, Duke of Normandy, later known as William the Conqueror. He was crowned king after defeating Harold at the Battle of Hastings. = =
the Norman army had three types of soldier; spear men cavalry (horsemen) and archers
they ran up a hill three time and then the English came down when the Normandy came down and on the last run there was a ambush
Yes, Harold was king in 1066 until the Battle of Hastings when Harold was shot in the eye with an arrow by William of Normandy's army. After Harold had been killed William became king and went around killing most of the english and robbing their houses.
Harald Haardrada, Harold Godwinson, William Duke of Normandy (godwinson can also be spelt godwineson!) Harald Haardrada was king of Noway and he died in a battle against Harold Godwin(e)son who was the earl of wessex. Finally, William duke of Normandy won the battle of hastings against Harold Godwin(e)son and he became king of England in 1066
The battle of Hastings was between the armies of King Harold II and William, Duke of Normandy (William the Conqueror - later to be crowned King William I). The battle was brought about by William's invasion and it was William's forces who attacked Harold's.
The contenders of the throne were Edgar Aethling ( Edward the Comnfessors closest blood relative alive at the time), William Duke of Normandy ( William I), Harald Hardraada and Harold Godwinson. I have no clue why they wanted it but it was probably because they wanted to be king.
1. God is present 2. The Eucharist 3. ITS AWSOME!!!!!
You can not actually say who is the best out of the three contenders, William Duke of Normandy, Harold Godwinson and Harald Hardrada. William Duke of Normandy became the King of England, in 1066, after beating Harold Godwinson in the battle of Hastings. Harold Godwinson was promised the throne by Edward the Confessor on his deathbed, which was approved by a witan. Harald Hardrada was beaten by Harold Godwinson in Stamford bridge, but was also promised the throne by his father King Cnut. By Hammiixx
