The Golden Labrador is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Golden Retriever and the LabradorRetriever. My Golden Retriever (female) had pups for my Black Lab (male) and all pups were solid black. They call the cross Golden Labs but mine are more like Black retrievers. They do have long hair. The actual length depends on if they're half lab half golden, or if it's quarter golden, then it wont be as fuzzy.
the same symptoms in a golden lab.

A 'black lab' is short for black labrador. Labradors are a very popular breed of dogs and can be found in three colours - black, golden/yellow, and chocolate.

If one of the labs and/or golden retrievers had a parent who was a black dog... That might explain it! Sometimes (even with dogs) the "family gene" skips a generation! :) Hope this answered your question!

I had a black lab for 11 years. He was 14 years old when he passed away. He was always very sweet and gentle. Behaviors of a dog quite often reflect their upbringing. If a dog is cross, then there is a very good chance that it reflects upon their current or previous handler/owner.
