1Sam:17:4: And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.
Goliath was not a king, just a champion of the Philistines.
David And Goliath story analysis of king saul?
Philistines.
Goliath
No, it was David who became king of Israel.
No. King David belonged to the Tribe of Judah in Israel and lived out his youth in Bethlehem with his father. Goliath was a Philistine who grew up in the city of Gath. Their only encounter resulted in Goliath's death.
Goliath
i think it was because of his strength and power over goliath, despite his size.
In the story of David and Goliath David was a young shepperd boy. He had brothers fighting in Saul's army at the time and was sent by his father to bring his brothers food. When he arrived he saw that Goliath was blaspheming God. He became upset and went into the king's tent and told the King he would fight Goliath. The king told him no at first but he was determined to fight for his God and eventually persuaded the king to allow him to fight Goliath. He walked to a stream picked 5 stones and using a sling shot hit Goliath in the middle of his with a rock killing the giant and sending the Philistines running with king Saul in shock.
1 Samuel 17:25 Now the Israelites had been saying, "Do you see how this man (Goliath) keeps coming out? He comes out to defy Israel. The king (Saul) will give great wealth to the man who kills him (Goliath). He will also give him his daughter in marriage and will exempt his father's family from taxes in Israel."
The person who died when hit on the forehead by a stone from a sling was Goliath, as recounted in the biblical story of David and Goliath. Goliath was a Philistine giant who was defeated by the young shepherd David using a sling and a stone.
technically Saul [1st Samuel 17, but actually Saul was rejected by Yahweh as king over yisrael back in chapter 15:26; so textually; HOWEVER - because david was anointed by the prophet Samuel as king in 16:13; the death of goliath happened in chap 17....so saul rejected-15:23 david anointed-16:13 goliath killed-17:15 you could then say that david was king when he killed goliath :)
Saul gave King David his all his armor to fight Goliath, the giant Philistine.
