Guide signs
vertical signs generally give instructions or tell you the law. horizontal signs give directions or information
On U.S. highways, green signs with white text are generally for navigational information: Upcoming exits and junctions, freeway entrance and exit signs, and street signs.
Green signs are not warning signs. They are signs that tell you it is "safe" to do something.
It depends on what type of signs. On road signs they may be speed limits or distances; on tankers, they may be indicative of hazardous substances.
Emergency signs are in green. If you see "Emergency exit" signs, or "Emergency eyewash" signs etc.. They are always in bold letters and green.
Regulation or regulatory signs are the signs along the highway that are black and white in color. Think of speed limit signs. These signs indicate a law or regulation, whereas yellow signs are cautionary signs. They indicate a possible hazard or danger. Brown signs or green signs are generally information, blue indicate travel services or accomodations.
The different colors of highway signs signify: 1.Ex blue:Used as background color for travel services information signs, emergency evaluation route sign. 2.green:Used as background color for the guides and information signs and for legend for the permissive regulation and the parking signs. 3.brown:Used as background color for the guides and information signs that are related to the points of recreational or cultural interest.
You cannot advertise restaurants on Green signs. Green signs are usually for driver guidance. However you could advertise them on Blue signs which are designated for driver convenience. In some areas these are also green. I've also seen them brown. A sign shop maybe able to answer that question for you.
Road signs are in miles. All other distances are metric.
