An STD is a Sexually Transmitted Disease. An STI (I think) is a Sexually Transmitted Infection. There are lots of these, from crabs to AIDS, and none of them are fun. "Crabs" are pubic lice, and you can get them from close contact without penetration. Most of the other diseases and infections require some sort of fluid exchange: vaginal fluid, sperm, saliva (spit), blood -- even the smallest drop.

You may know you're disease-free, but you can never be sure about your partner, so if you're sexually active you need to find a free clinic or a health professional you can talk to, and get tested. (If you can't talk to a doctor about your sex life, you're not man enough to have one!) This could save your life. And you don't want to be one of those jerks who gives other people STDs!
