Some teens' health improved when they could no longer order fries, burgers and coca colas. In Britain they could not just order fish and chips anymore either. But the real improvement for the kids was the victory gardens and fruit from the orchards in Florida and California. The kids were eating more vegetables and fruit than they had before the war. However, the Brits had a lot of their fresh fruit and vegetables from the US and Canada end up on the bottom of the Atlantic when the U Boats sunk the cargo ships.
Another factor was the introduction of health programs in schools and inoculations for all the kids. The kids were encouraged to keep their hands clean, eat right (follow the pyramid chart) and get plenty of exercise in fresh air.
