As many as you want. There is no law that says how many sentences make a paragraph. You should have more than one sentence in each paragraph, however. The general rule is: include enough sentences to make your point in each paragraph so that your essay is not confusing.
A paragraph is supposed to be 5-7 sentences long so anywhere from 9-15 sentences are too long. Also you need to start a new paragraph when you jump to a different topic or it will be a double subject paragraph. or it will be an run on paragraph....

Well depending on the type it is , if it is letter to the editor it will most likely be 2 to 3 paragraphs , if a simple topic paragraph such as about cats you would start discussing then gettin into it with the body then the conclusion which will take 5 paragraphs hope this helped you out ! :)
I am writing one right now in school, and to write a good one, make a intro so that the reader will know what they are going to start reading in ur body paragraphs. Then pick out your documents, add the information from the document, then add your outside knowlage... hopefully about 7-15 sentences in a paragraph... Good luck!!! :)
