Maybe the blindfold wasn't enough to retain Riku's darkness when he ultimately submitted to darkness at Memory's Skyscraper in The World That Never Was. Riku decided to embrace the darkness, rather than hold it back when he realized how strong Roxas actually was, so we're forced to assume that Riku could no longer use that blindfold.

Then, Sora looks at Roxas in his Organization XIII suit, and they fight a brief duel. After that, Roxas turns to Sora and says, "Hmph! You're a good other," and disappears. Then, Sora returns to Twilight Town.
