Hi, I am a 6th grade teacher. My class has been studying European explorers such as Cook, Cartier, Columbus, and the Vikings. The Vikings traveled to Iceland, Greenland, and Newfoundland. The Vikings named Newfoundland Vinland. Here is a helpful link . . .
Since before Vikings discovered North America.
The Vikings settled there. The location has been found by archaeologists. It is in Newfoundland, Canada.
It isn't, really. Yes, the Earth has been warming, since the 1820's. Before that it was cooling, from the late 1600's, and before that it was warming. The world's climate goes in cycles; not only the annual cycles of winter and summer, but cycles hundreds, perhaps a thousand years long. A thousand years ago, the world was warmer than it is now! There were dairy farms on Greenland, and the Vikings called it "Greenland" because it was green. Lief Erikson discovered a land with grape vines which he called "Vinland" (Not big on innovative names, those Vikings). We've discovered Vinland; it's in Labrador, Canada. No grape vines.

the vikings discovered America. i know people say cristopher colombus did but the viking really did. you see, vikings came here way before christopher Columbus was even born. the vikings came in the 900's and cris Columbus came in th 1400's.
Vikings were not the first boat makers. Boats have been in existence for centuries before the Vikings.
The site of Vinland has been found and explored by archaelogists.
