Be prepared to go to jail.
Every now and again the police will have a Gun amnisty to tacle gun crime where they will accept them no questions asked. But on a personal level if the weapon is of historic or military value please donate it to a museum rather than hand it in to be destroyed. You can also go about deactivating them which is perfectly legal.
That all police in UK do not carry guns.
If you take the example of the UK (where guns are banned), the normal police on duty on the streets are not armed with guns. There are UK police trained to use and carry guns but they only do so when responding to a situation where a criminal is seen to be armed. Based on this tried example, is is clear that if guns were banned effectively, the police would not need to carry weapons.
Detain suspects believed to be illegally in the uk take them to police stations.
The only police to use firearms in the UK, are specialised groups such as the Civil Nuclear Constabulary, or special teams within territorial police forces. When the metropolitan police force was established, officers did not carry guns.
Very few ! Apart from the police and special protection services, the level of legal gun ownership is less than 1 percent of the UK population.
London has more train stations than any other town in the UK.
Not in the UK they don't ! The 'regular' police are limited to carrying a truncheon or baton, and a CS spray. Specialist (firearms) officers can carry hand-guns, automatic rifles and stun-guns.
i would go and ask the local police officer and i would think he would no im not totaly sure about the guns laws out in UK ( i live in the U.S)
Police station are managed by custody sergeants, who are in charge of the station and there booking in of detainees. Custody sergeants have the same powers and responsibilities as the sergeant rank, and are simply sergeants installed in stations; where responsibilities adapt to the needs of the Police station.
Most large police Stations, Railway Stations, Shopping Centres, and so on, will usually have a 'Lost Property Department' where any lost property handed in will be kept until the owner returns to claim their property. In the case of the police (at least in the UK) they will periodically offer unclaimed property for public auction.
It will do soon, as old stations are retired
there are bout 5.0000000 in the uk.
