Probably, but it has only recently been named as such and clearly defined.

Noone really knows when Aspergers' Syndrome was FIRST thought out, but the first researcher to define it, has since then made the case. You never know, back when the cavemans were around, Aspergers' syndrome could've had some effect.

YES it is a real syndrome and is similar to ADHD and ADD as well, which are also real!! However yes some are worse than others. Some can go without even being diagnosed because they're so low and c an handle it and are very smart and it doesn't effect them that much either.

That depends; the condition exists, but the label Asperger's Syndrome might be redundant. There is a real condition that is labeled as Asperger's Syndrome, but some people believe it should be labeled as autism, rather than as a related condition. Perhaps the negative view of autism prompted a new label for those with high-functioning autism.

The characteristics of Asperger's Syndrome are often not recognized at as a young an age as autism, but occasionally they are recognized very early. Sometimes, a child diagnosed with autism is re-diagnosed as having Asperger's Syndrome when he or she is older. Sometimes, after a child is diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, family members can remember incidents that exhibited symptoms of Asperger's Syndrome from a much earlier time in the child's life. Simply because a condition is more difficult to diagnose does not mean that it does not exist.

Some medical practitioners are much more familiar with the condition than others, so some are much better at diagnosing it. Some people are misdiagnosed as having Asperger's Syndrome when they do not, while others with Asperger's Syndrome are misdiagnosed as having another condition.

Well, it does exsist. However, it's not really anything totally devistating. How do I know this? I have aspergers. Basically, a person with aspergers will form completely normally, it's just the social parts of their brain are a bit unusual. All that means is they'll be socially unique :) Although some people may not like them for it, children with aspergers tend to have a higher IQ and a greater enthusiasm for life than people without aspergers. Oh, and one more thing- us aspergers kids are a bit obsessive about some of the things we like :) but NO, aspergers is not something serious. I don't think it needs medication either... they put me on medication for it once. I didn't like it at all. If you're asking this about a child, and one day some crazy psychiatrist tells you to put them on some kind of pills DON'T do that. The pills only messed me up, I can't see how it would be much different for anyone else with the same condition.

It's a form of high-functioning autism so that would be correct.
