What happened to Lings Turkish delight Has its gelatin content made it unpopular?

= Products = Turkish Delight is probably one of the oldest confectionery known to man. In Biblical times called Rahat Lacoum (perfumed sweetness), it became popular in the Arab World as the sweet of hospitality and from the 1830's the first commercial imports of Locoum were brought from Turkey - hence the name Turkish' Delight. Our founder, Frederik J. Ling, served in the middle East during World War One. When he returned to the UK he perfected a recipe which won a Gold Medal for "excellence in the manufacture of Turkish Delight". We have never changed this recipe - being sure to use only the finest natural ingredients (the Rose flavour, genuine Bulgarian Otto of Rose, is the most expensive Rose essence on the market). The soft silky texture of our product puts Lings ahead of our competitors, not only because the consistency is so pleasant, but also because it allows the elderly to enjoy our confection. A unique combination which has proved successful with the British public for over 75 years... = Products = Turkish Delight is probably one of the oldest confectionery known to man. LINGS rose and lemon Turkish delight why has its taste changed for the worst?

Hi, my wife found the same as you, the taste was definitely no comparison to the 'LINGS' she was very fond of. As a result she has contacted the company and has just received a very informative letter from them. In it they say due to recent consumer pressures they had changed their traditional recipe to a pectin base instead of a geletine product. Due to the response this has raised from many people passionate about their original product they will be reintroducing the old recipe in time for Christmas 2008 and they will be contacting her again later in the year to inform her when the Turkish delight is available. If like my wife you would like to notify them of your concerns they can be contacted through www.valentines-liquorice.co.UK The countdown has now started for Christmas 2008.
