The Mariner 10 has visited Mercury 3 times. Its major mission was to photograph Venus but got off orbit and ended up photographing Mercury. After orbiting the sun it met up with Mercury again in 176 days. In another 6 months the Mariner 10 saw Mercury again. All of this happend between 1974-1975.
Mariner 10 and Messenger have visited Mercury. BepiColombo by the ESA is planned to be launched in 2013. Mariner 10 provider the first close up photos of the planet. Messenger is "filling" in the gaps not accomplished by Mariner.

mariner the 10 has visited the moon
Nobody has ever visited Mercury due to its highly inhospitable surface conditions. Temperatures can vary by as much as 600 degrees Kelvin. Surface conditions have been observed for many centuries using telescopes, both on Earth and from space. The surface is hard, rocky, and cratered in a way similar to the moon.

The only probe to visit Mercury was Mariner 10 in 1974. MESSENGER is on its way to Mercury but will not arrive until 2011.
All spacecraft (from Earth) that have visited Mercury have been robotic. There were no human passengers. The chances are near zero that a stowaway microbe would have survived the long journey.

No one has actually ever stepped or been on mercury as no microbe would survive the long journey.
