Saint Nicholas is the parton Saint of Children and Fishermen. There have been numerous tales of lost fishermen praying to Saint Nicholas and his visual image was seen leading them to safety.
While the mighty red and White Santa Claus is not often reported as being seen, it doesn't mean the true saint is not.
