∙ 15y agoNo. There is no real place in Australia called Mako Island. All the underwater scenes for Mako island are filmed at Sea World on the Gold Coast. Mako Island is a fictitious place made specifically for the show, and sharks cannot get to the part of Sea World where the Mako Island set is.
