The book was a Lemony Snicket unfortanute event book Actually the Quagmire triplets didn't ever die. There were attacked in the air by VFD and Quigley came to rescue them and they are all fine. I am pretty sure this is correct I have read the series several times. correct me if I'm wrong.

Well I think that all of the guardians of the Baudelaire were somehow connected to the V.F.D. But also V.F.D is just a stage name created by Lemony Snicket a.k.a Daniel Handler.......I think. Also if your wondering i don't think Daniel Handler ever married Beatrice. Beatrice was the mother of the Baudelaire children I think.

Beatrice Baudelaire , is Sunny , Klaus , and Violet's mother , from the fictional series , A Series of Unfortunate Events. The 3 children are in search for their parent(s) , ever since they were at Heimlich Hospital and found page 13 of of the Snicket File , which read ,"Because of the evidence discussed on page 9 , experts now suspect that there may in fact be one survivor of the fire , but the survivor's whereabouts are unknown." Bertrand is the 3 children's father.If you want to know if 1 (or both) of the parents survive the fire , you'll have to read A Series of Unfortunate Events .In The Beatrice Letters, which was published before The End, it is revealed that Beatrice's full name is Beatrice Baudelaire, making her a relative of the Baudelaire orphans. It later becomes clear that this Beatrice is the Baudelaire orphans' mother, and that there is another Beatrice Baudelaire, Kit Snicket's child, who is born in The End and raised by the orphans. The Beatrice Letters reveals that both Beatrices are baticeers (a person who trains bats). Baticeer is an anagram for Beatrice, much as "My Silence Knot" was an anagram for Lemony Snicket and Carrie E. After the 13th book, The End, the Baudeliere children sadly die at sea, and as you would see from the Beatrice Letters there is a picture of a ship wreck with Violet's ribbon, Klaus's glasses and Sunny's whisk. So sad that while they ran over and over again to escape Olaf, they didn't ever even have the fortune, because their mother was alive. Although this book is fiction, it saddens and haunts me :(
Are the characters real in lemony snicket books?
The truth is that the story is based on what happened to kids long ago. The characters are not real due to privacy rights but it truly happened. I know this because on a website I found it says this is a good true story. I'm not saying that it is NOT true and your answer is definitely reasonable, but when you say "what happened to kids long ago," do you mean EVERYTHING? Because, being very articulate and sort of OCD and all, wouldn't the government interfere or something? And the way the people acted, they had absolutely no idea what was going on! At least someone could act somewhat suspicious to all this. But, contradicting myself, I sort of want it to be true, but highly exaggerated because I feel really bad for the kids. it might be true but only tiny parts of it could be true because some things in that book could never ever happen
