No it did not Galileo discovered it but he thought it was a star then two scientists that I do not recall the name of predicted there was a planet in that region but they always thought it was a star so when they sent Voyager 2 out it was a planet.
Voyager II was launched on August 20, 1977.
-- Closest encounter with Jupiter on July 9, 1979
-- Closest encounter with Saturn on August 26, 1981
-- Closest encounter with Uranus on January 24, 1986
-- Closest encounter with Neptune on August 25, 1989
As of late 2012 ... 35 years after launch ... the spacecraft was still receiving
commands and transmitting data to the Deep Space Network on Earth.
Voyager 2 did not land on Neptune. It flew by Neptune on August 8, 1989
Voyager 2 flew past Neptune in August of 1989.
yup.., definitely.., but the type of Voyager 2 is a flyby only.., it didn't land on the Neptune because Neptune is a gas giant.... :)

In Neptune
Voyager 2 was never on Neptune, but rather did a close flyby. During this flyby, Voyager 2 studied Neptune's atmosphere and the planet's largest Moon, Triton. It also discovered 6 new moons orbiting the planet.
Voyager 1 never visited Neptune. Voyager 2 has. Voyager 2 is currently the only scientific instrument to do a fly-by of Neptune.
i the purpose is to explore outer space for other life forms

In Neptune
No. Voyager 2 visited Neptune in 1989. Neptune was discovered in 1846 but its existence was inferred earlier based on how its gravity slightly perturbed the orbit of Uranus.
Actually it was found by voyager 2, it's the same that discover Neptune

Voyager 2 did not land on Neptune, it made a flyby.

Only Voyager 2 flew by Neptune. Voyager 1, Pioneer and Galileo did not.
2 spacecrafts named 'Voyager' has reached Neptune.
Voyager 2 didn't actually orbit Neptune. It flew past it in 1989.
