If a 1988 Lincoln Town Car is blowing both hot and cold air when the air conditioning is on, there could be a problem with the thermostat. There might also be a problem with the level of refrigerant in the air conditioning pump.
air conditioner when on runs battery dead
To fix the air conditioning on the Peugeot 406, the steps will vary depending on the problem. Often, if the air conditioner does not come on at all, a fuse or wiring will need to be replaced. If the air conditioner blows hot air, the condenser or the coolant system might need to be replaced. If the air conditioner lacks a fan, the blower motor might be bad.
No you cannot boost or get more cooling out of an air conditioner in a vehicle. Suggest you take it to a service/repair shop and see if it is low on Refrigerant or have another problem....but you cannot boost an air conditioning compressor's performance.
The most common case of air conditioner failure in cars is the failure of the condenser, a major component of the air conditioner. If you can get this fixed at an automobile store, then you will not have this problem.
I've experienced 2 problems with air conditioning with 2 Lincolns I've owned. My 1996 Lincoln started blowing just hot air even though the air conditioning unit under the hood was cold and had ice forming over it. A few mechanics looked at it and couldn't fix it. An air conditioning shop finally fixed the problem. A $65 switching motor which took 8 hours to find. My 2000 Lincoln also developed a problem where I could not turn the blower on. I could feel the cold air from the vents, I just couldn't turn up the blower to get it into the car. By this time I was dealing with a mechanic who dealt with Lincolns from the limo industry. For $50 he replaced a sensor in the blower control and it has worked fine since. I wish I had known about this Lincoln mechanic when I had the first problem.
Willis Carrier invented the first air conditioner in 1902. He was trying to fix a printing machine that was continually smudging ink and realized that humidity was causing the problem. So to get rid of the humidity he invented the air conditioner. He started his Carrier air conditioning company in 1915, which today is a multi-billion dollar business.
"What" on the suction line of an air conditioner indicates a problem?
