Our furthest probe, Voyager 1, was launched 31 years ago. It has now traveled 10 billion miles.
If we were to head straight "up" out of the plane of our galaxy, we would have to travel at least 1,500 light years (or 9,000,000 billion miles). Even if Voyager 1 was going that direction (which it isn't), it would take 2.7 million years just to exit the spiral arm. There may be much invisible dust and gas beyond that, so to truly leave our Galaxy might take ten times longer.
