The Savannah is not a desert. It is a distinct biome, a grassland.
Humans have made little impact on the Atacama. In the north there are a few mining operations. There are few roads or highways and most cities are found along the Pacific coast.
Firstly Humans have built Bloody Great roads in the Great Sandy Desert and have put holes all through the desert in search for the prized Australian Opal. There are many other affects on the Great Sandy Desert and all which have been negative. The worst impact is that humans use more water than the animals and have dried up many water holes this affects not just ourselves but also all the wildlife.
