I have on paxil for over two months now. Honestly it appeats that this drug is making my symptoms worse, more recently I have been experiencing extreme nausea and weakness.

My job involves making several trip from office to the warehouse, and it has become extremely difficult due to weakness. I have reduced my dose from 25 mg to 12.5 since this morning to see if the weakness and nausea go away.

Is paxil dangerous?

The withdrawals from Paxil/Paroxetine are very harsh. I don't know if the use of Paxil itself is dangerous. But I do know that if you take it, at some point you will either want to stop it or you will come to what they call "Paxil Poopout". That is when you've built up a tolerance to the drug and will start having withdrawals. I personally had this happen to me and the withdrawals are very severe and include: Severe anxiety, depression, intense dreams/nightmares, suicidal thoughts, nausea, insomnia, dizziness, irritability, anger, sweating, feeling off-balance and clumsy, shaky, twitches and jerks, brain zaps and flashes of light, tinitus. difficulty focusing thoughts, akathisia, dysphoria and more. There is a good ABC Primetime Live show about it. Search at Youtube "Withdrawing from Antidepressants Can be Dangerous". There is more information at paxilwithdrawals.webs.com

You are considering taking Paxil or zoloft for anxiety which is better?

I have not tried Paxil but I know from experience with Lexapro, is that it works very well. Trying to come off of it is the challenge. I got extreme dizziness and nausea. Although, that lasted a few weeks then it surpassed and I'm back to normal. Lexapro worked great for me and I strongly recomment it.

Are Paxil Lithium and Loranzapam unsafe to take together?

I have found taking paxil and lithium together makes me feel much worse. The depression and panic attacks became much worse. I believe the paxil after 11 years of taking it stopped working and turned on me as my Bipolar 2 got worse, then taking the lithium enhanced the paxil thus compounding the issue. I am slowly getting off the paxil which is a nightmare but allowing me to avoid more extremes in the future. Paxil ahs turned out to be nasty drug with more side effects than you can imagine.

Can you take Paxil and Adderall?

If you were already taking Adderall, your prescriber might chose another antidepressant as long as Paxil might interact with Adderall (blocking its elimination). You might experiment very strong side effects in taking those 2 drugs..

Not likely. While you're taking it you may find that your weight goes up or down, but that is a possibility with almost all medications. People taking Paxil will experience weight gain more often than weight loss.

Trying to get off Paxil and trying to get pregnant. I tried getting off Paxil slowly once and was down to 7 mgs a day but I couldn't take the side effects. Is it really dangerous to be preg on Paxil?

Studies have shown that taking Paxil while pregnant can cause birth defects and premature birth. Paxil also passes into breast milk, so it should not be taken while breast feeding, either. Talk to your doctor and see if there is something you can take to help with the side effects of getting off Paxil that will be safe for the baby.
