Well, you shouldn't wait for him and he wasn't supposed to tell you that and even think of liking someone else if he's a true boyfriend. Tell him you won't be with him if he gets the girl if he says he'll stay with you well that's a true boyfriend but if not don't stay with him cause you don't deserve to be miserable and don't be afraid to tell him that stand up for yourself OK, and this is coming from an eleven year old girl so take my advise hope it works.
