I have an 02 PT Cruiser and have just gotten off the phone with several auto repair shops. The dealers price was around $1,100. I have gotten other prices from $900 to $1600. So it all depends on the shop and if they check the head and replace the timing belt and tensioner. Also some want to send the radiator out to be rodded out. the labor itself is around $600 plus parts which th ehead gasket set is $160, then $40 for head bolts. If the head is checked at a machine shop tha is another $100. If the timing belt hasn't been changed they have to remove it anyway so that set is another $160. So it will tare up a grand quick. hope this helps. Yea the radiator shop usually charges about $75 to rod it out. So if all this is done it should be around $1135 to repair head gasket on a none turbo model.
