Generally the dentist or oral surgeon will put 2 stitches into the gum surface. The patient will be given instructions for after care, the most important of which are:
- no smoking
- no drinking with straws
- no eating very hot or cold foods
- no eating coarse or crunchy things
You may need to keep a dressing on the incision site for up to 24 hours. Some wisdom teeth come out with quite a lot of stress on the nerves and jaw; others slip out quietly with little trauma. Pain medication can range from acetaminophen up to Oxycodone depending on the amount of work done.
Full healing is typically 1 to 2 weeks. Diabetics and smokers can expect much longer healing.
It is safe to go in a hot tub after getting wisdom teeth pulled however you should avoid getting the water into your mouth. Hot water allows the growth of bacteria and may increase the risk of infection.
i don't know i am not a doctor. No, wait a few days. Alcohol slows the wound healing.
No. Your wisdom teeth were removed, not cut. A tooth is a bone just like any other. The pain you feel is the actual gum healing. You should be sore for a week or two. It's just part of the process. Try not to let anything get inside the wound.
never smoke if your teeth are in pain or after the removal of a tooth or teeth it is worse than normal smoking as you have a wound and could cause infection in the gum which is very nasty wait until it is fully healed. If you mean after it has healed then it is up to you.
absolutely. i got all 4 of mine out at once too, and it was swollen and painful for a whole week.
Cicatricial contraction is the healing process during which the edges of a wound shrink and pulled closer together. The scar left by this process is called a cicatrix.
capable of griping, using teeth to wound
The blood clot would be red in color and thick enough to protect the healing wound. Sometimes bond fragments come loose during the healing progress and that can happen if the wisdom tooth was impacted in the bone. If the blood clot was dislodged by the gauze you'd be in severe pain even if you're on pain meds.
You grad plyers and yank it out!
This is going to depend on how sensitive you are. This includes your sensitivity to pain medications. If you are allergic to them, you may want to consider taking Advil or Tylenol instead so you do not vomit with an mouth wound. I would suggest liquids at first and soft foods such as mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, soups, Jell-O, etc.
Ideally, if no infection the wound will heal from the inside out by second intention.
I just had all four wisdom teeth pulled a week ago today. For the 1st few days I ate clear soups (chicken broth, tomato soup), yogurt, and pudding. After the 3rd day I had no problem with pasta and pb&j sandwiches (cut in quarters, leaving the crust). Make sure to chew with you front teeth if its a molar you are having extracted, and be sure to carefully rinse after eating with warm salt water to keep the wound clean. So far I have had no problems and am healing at normal rate. Good luck!
