Clastic and organic sedimentary rocks like conglomerate, coal, some limestones, and shale, are formed under pressure from overlying sediments.
Sediments and pressure
Sediments are deposited on to other sediments and immense heat and pressure turn the sediments into a rock
Sedimantary RocksThese rocks are formed from th ehot lavaJk jk i was bored i dont reall know what they mean and i real HATE STAaR
Sedimentary because it has sediments.
rock
rock
oil and natural gas
From the pressure of overlying sediments squeezing the water out of ancient plant remains.
From the pressure of overlying sediments squeezing the water out of ancient plant remains.
The main force is weight of overlying rocks , called overburden, which puts overburden pressure on sediments and make them compress and compacts
Clastic and organic sedimentary rocks like conglomerate, coal, some limestones, and shale, are formed under pressure from overlying sediments.
Compression due to pressure from overlying sediments and the presence of cementing substances such as clay and/or iron.
A metamorphic rock is formed when sedimentary rock is subjected to heat and pressure!
Sediments (sand, clay, boulders etc) are derived from the erosion of preexisting rocks by snow, ice, water and wind. Eventually these sediments settle and are covered by more sediments. As the weight of overlying sediments builds up the pressure and minerals dissolved in and carried by groundwater cement the sediment particles together to form a new rock layer. This new rock is called a sedimentary rock.
Pressure from weight of overlying rock.
Pressure of water and other sediments.
