Why is my fan on my ac unit not coming on when i turn the heat on?

I assume that you have a Ford topaz/tempo. Blower fan not working. First check to see if there is power to the blower. Its behind the glove box. Just unplug the power input, and check for power, sometimes even with power, the blower just might have a bad ground,or be finished, be prepared to remove it, not a big job. Also check the switch at the on/off control.

∙ 9y agoStart by checking the fuses, then the fan relay. If they are ok, then check the switch, the fan resister and the blower motor.

∙ 12y agoThe fan on the ac unit is only for ac. When heat is needed only the burner in the furnace turn on and is pushed throughout the house with a separate blower inside the furnace.

The fan is wired to the house wrong. Typically the red switch wire in the ceiling box will be nutted off and not used when a remote is installed. Sounds like, in this case, the fan light wire (blue) was connected to the red switch wire in the ceiling box instead of being correctly connected to the remote unit at the fan.
