You must have (minimum)high school Algebra before going to any kind of electrician apprenticeship program. The trade itself requires you to read and be able to follow written instructions. So Reading and Writing class can only help you when you're ready to take the test.
In high school you will have shop classes for electives and these may help you. To become an electrician you can get an apprenticeship to have a master electrician to train you.
