Alberto Larraguibel riding Huaso jumped 8 ft. 1 1/4 in. on February 5th, 1949, which still remains the world record for the highest horse jump (High Jump, not puissance). Although Fred Wettach Jr. riding King's Own jumped 8 ft. 3 1/2 in., there were not enough spectators to make it count.

Actually, it was King's Own, ridden by Fred Wettach Jr at 8ft 3 1/2in. It was not considered the official high jump because it was only performed in front of 25 people, not enough to be considered a "public gathering" at the time.

∙ 11y agoThe "unofficial" world record jump is 8ft, 3 1/2 inches, jumped by Fred (Freddie) Wettach, Jr. riding his horse King's Own. The record was not considered official because it was not made in front of a public gathering.
The Official Record is taken by Huaso's who cleared a gigantic 2.47m fence. After this he was then retired. (Aged 16)

∙ 14y agoThe record is currently held by Captain Alberton Larraguibel Morales and his horse, "Hauso". It was set in 1949, and still stands today. The height of the obstacle was 8ft 1 1/4in.
