On my 06 Malibu, the option for the horn to sound is in the display menu on the center dash (which also shows the gas mileage and other options) - Check in there.
Answer: The dealership is correct. The 2001 XJ does not have a steering column locking mechanism.
No.No.
By using central locking system of cars, passenger can lock or unlock all the doors of car pressing a button or flipping a switch.
yes by locking onto them and pressing up. that's what i do anyway
If the power steering fluid leaks out the steering would become very stiff, and perhaps "lock" if the car were parked.
This sometimes happens when you park your car with the steering wheel turned too far to the right or to the left locking the steering wheel and trans. in park.
If you are asking about the small circlip that holds the locking plate down, it goes on top of the locking plate. There should be a spring on top of the turn signal cam then the locking plate goes on top of that. A special locking plate depressor is required to hold the locking plate down, then the circlip holds the locking plate in place when the depressor tool is removed. Hope that makes sense and works for you.
the steering column tilt and telescoping lock does not keep wheel in place. How do I fix this ?
Remove the cowlings from the steering column around the lights/indicator stalks. Insert key and turn to position "I",push in the locking pin on top of the lock barrel with a small screwdriver and withdraw the locking assembly.Take the new lock and set to "I" again,if steering lock was not released before starting the removal, you may need to push down the steering blocking pin with a screwdriver down the hole.Otherwise, just insert the locking assembly until it clicks in.
This is the locking mechanism that prevents you from shifting from park without depressing the brake pedal or pressing the release button to the right of the gear shifter. You need to undo the two locking pins on the side, then take the steering wheel off, only in a straight angle. Dont forget to remove the casing aroung the steering column
The adjustment is on top of the steering box. Loosen the locking nut then tighten the bolt lightly. Over tightening will cause the box to be too tight.
