You can use any of the two. Using a fork would be easier I guess. Usually a fork and a spoon, the Chinese would eat noodles, a kind of Chinese spaghetti, with chop sticks.
To properly eat a meal using both a fork and a spoon, hold the fork in your dominant hand and the spoon in your non-dominant hand. Use the fork to pick up solid foods and the spoon to scoop up liquids or smaller pieces. Alternate between the fork and spoon as needed to enjoy your meal.
It depends, when I have small long pancakes I use my hands and dip it in a cup of syrup. But when I have big fat pancakes I use a fork and knife. Or when I have small pancakes soaked in syrup I just use a fork. But I'm not saying how to eat them, just how I prefer how to eat them.

we eat with a knife and fork so we don't get are hands dirty because if you imagine how Many germs that get stuck on your hands and if we eat with are hands we would be putting germs into are mouths all the time so that is why we eat with a knife and fork. Also using a Knife and fork during meals is polite....... many people eat hotdogs and burgers with there hands........ many people wash there hands before they eat these meals so they are not spreading as much bacteria..........

Forks come in two sizes. The larger fork is the salad fork and the smaller fork is the one you eat your main entree with. There is also a salad fork that is about 12" long and has about 3 "Spikes" coming off the end of it and is paired with another fork that is used to "toss" salads (to stir all the ingredients).
