Cleaning a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) without removing it is possible, but it requires certain precautions and steps. Here are some options that can help clean your DPF:

Drive at high speeds: One way to clean a DPF is by driving at high speeds for an extended period. This allows the engine to generate more heat, which can burn off any accumulated soot particles. However, this method may not be effective for severely clogged filters.

Use a DPF cleaning fluid: There are several DPF cleaning fluids available on the market that claim to clean the filter without removing it. These fluids work by breaking down the soot particles and enabling them to pass through the filter. Follow the instructions on the fluid's label and pour it into the fuel tank before filling up with diesel.

Use a DPF cleaning additive: DPF cleaning additives are another option. These additives are mixed with diesel fuel and are designed to reduce emissions and clean the DPF. Follow the instructions on the additive's label and add it to your fuel tank.

Use a DPF cleaning service: There are professional DPF cleaning services available that can clean your filter without removing it. These services use specialized equipment and cleaning solutions to remove soot and other debris from the filter. David's Auto Repair may be able to provide this service for you.

It's important to note that cleaning a DPF without removing it may not always be effective, and in some cases, replacement may be necessary. If you are unsure about how to clean your DPF, consult a qualified mechanic or DPF cleaning specialist for guidance. For more info, call us today 044 91 63 227.

How do you clean the dpf?

The way I do it... get a transmission jack... Harbor Freight sells one for $85 that works perfectly. Secure it in the transmission jack, then release the clamp at the inlet and outlet. Bring it down as one piece, then disassemble it. With a three piece DPF, you have an inlet, the filter, then the outlet. Check the outlet for cracks... it's a common problem. Sometimes the cracking is very subtle, and the only indication of it you'll have is the presence of resin on the outside of the DPF outlet. The center piece is the DPF filter.. if you don't have a portable DPF cleaner and air compressor, it should be taken to a shop which does have one.. it can save you a lot of money to always have one cleaned one on hand. The inlet.. you just blow that out with air. Blow it out on each side until nothing comes out of the inlet anymore. Before reassembling the DPF, check the condition of the temperature sensors, and replace them if needed. Also make sure all the old gasket is removed prior to replacing them with new gaskets and reassembling the DPF.
