How much more electricity does an electric cooktop use than a gas cooktop?
An electric cooktop uses a great deal more electrical energy than a gas cooktop. The electric portion of the gas cooktop runs the electronics (clock, timer, ignitor, oven light, etc.), and these are small electrical loads. An electric cooktop uses more electrical energy cooking a batch of, say, pasta sauce, than a gas cooktop would normally use in a month or two. There just isn't a good comparison as there is such a broad difference in the electrical usage of the two units.

Can a gas cooktop with an integrated vent be replaced with a gas cooktop that has no vent?
Yes for the vast majority. You will have to remove the old venting system, but the usually the size of the new cooktop is the key factor. Make sure you have plenty of space to include a vent hood above your cooktop, especially regarding gas burner you need to specific clearance between the cooktop and hood. See the related link below for the exact dimensions.

How does an induction cooktop stove work?
Basically put, an induction cooktop creates heat in the pan or pot you place on it, whereas a regular cooktop heats a burner, which in turn heats the pan or pot. It's basically heating with magnetism. As such, glass, aluminum or ceramic dishware will not heat on this type cooktop. You must have stainless-stell, cast iron or enamelware. If a magnet sticks to the cookware, you can heat with it on a induction cooktop.

When using the oven why does your stove top get so hot?
I suppose you're talking about a glass cooktop here. The glass cooktop is a thin dense material and basically acts as a heatsink, compared to the material the kitchen-top is made of (thick wood chip-board). This is why the cooktop will always be warm or even hot to the touch while the kitchentop is constantly cool. When installing a glass cooktop above the oven, you must always make sure that the space where the oven and cooktop are installed in the kitchen unit is adequately ventilated because when you use your oven the area where the oven is will warm up. Above it you have your glass cooktop, which is cold. This will cause condensation on the inside surface of the cooktop which could cause complications.
